Casting Announced For Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams

Channel 4 has announced that Timothy Spall (The Syndicate) will star in the first of a ten-part anthology series, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, based on the short stories of the acclaimed sci-fi novelist.

The series will feature ten episodes inspired by Philip K. Dick’s renowned short stories, adapted and contemporised for global audiences by leading British and American writers. Each episode will be a standalone drama that will serve to illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision whilst celebrating the enduring appeal of his work.

In The Commuter, written by Jack Thorne (This is England) and directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders), Ed Jacobson (Timothy Spall) is an unassuming employee at a train station who is alarmed to discover that a number of daily commuters are taking the train to a town that shouldn’t exist.

When Jacobson investigates the mystery for himself, he comes face to face with an alternate reality that forces him to confront his own struggles around his relationship with his wife Mary (Rebecca Manley) and his very troubled son Sam (Anthony Boyle).

Also featured in The Commuter are Rudi Dharmalingham (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as fellow train station employee Bob Paine, Tuppence Middleton (War & Peace) as the mysterious Linda, Anne Reid (Last Tango in Halifax) as Martine Jenkins, Ann Akin (Crackanory) as Dr. Simpson.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams will air later this year on Channel 4 in the UK, and on Amazon in the US.
