Channel 4’s Loaded Adapts Israeli Hit Mesudarim

Channel 4 has announced new comedy drama Loaded, based on the Israeli hit Mesudarim, which is to be a co-produced with AMC. The series, written by Jon Brown (Fresh Meat), follows four British tech entrepreneurs and childhood friends who become multi-millionaires overnight.

Loaded follows the lives of tech entrepreneurs and friends Josh (Jim Howick), Leon (Samuel Anderson), Watto (Nick Helm) and Ewan (Jonny Sweet) who have just sold their start up videogame company for hundreds of millions of pounds.

Overnight, the four 30-something friends are transformed from “people who play games” to “serious players”. Amidst a raging hurricane of money and excess, Loaded is about friendship, ambition, gluttony, the peculiar British distaste for other people’s success and how money can put even life-long friendships to the test.

Phil Clarke, Head of Scripted at Channel 4, said: “Jon Brown is one of the most talented young British writers around, demonstrated by his ability to turn the dream of instant riches into the worst nightmare imaginable.”

Loaded goes into production early next month and is slated to air on Channel 4 and AMC in 2017. Ian Fitzgibbon (Raised by Wolves) will direct the first three episodes.
