Cutting It Team Reunite For BBC Beauty Salon Drama

BBC One has announced Age Before Beauty, a new series from Mainstreet Pictures (Unforgotten) written by Debbie Horsfield (Poldark) which reunites the team behind Cutting It in a drama about a failing family-run beauty salon in Manchester.

Married to Wesley for 25 years, Bel has spent 18 years as a housewife and mum to twins, but now they have left for university. To fill the void, her brother-in-law and best friend Teddy begs her to step in and rescue the family business – a lowly beauty salon in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The salon employs Bel’s high-maintenance family: mother Ivy-Rae (body building coach and spray tan technician), sisters Leanne (part- time nail-technician, part-time personal stylist), Tina (tattooist) and Heidi (cosmetic surgery addict).

Into the mix comes beautiful twenty-something personal trainer Lorelei who Wes’ seems interested in. Can Bel reconcile the demands of her business, her warring family and the problems in her marriage?

Debbie Horsfield says: “I’m thrilled to be working with long-term colleagues Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes (joint Managing Directors at Mainstreet Pictures) again. This will be our first collaboration since Cutting It, and we’re looking forward to turning the spotlight on the subject of ageing: growing older gracefully – or disgracefully!”
