Filming has begun on location in Port Isaac for a new eight-part series of hit ITV drama Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes.
When the series returns, Doc Martin and his wife Louisa (Caroline Catz) face the challenge of living happily together in the sleepy hamlet of Port Wenn with their baby James Henry, after undergoing therapy to save their marriage.
Martin Clunes says: “I’m thrilled to be back on the beautiful North Cornish coast to shoot series eight of Doc Martin. The Doc is as obstinate as ever, but he is trying his best to be a better husband and father.”
Meanwhile, Doc Martin’s Aunt Ruth (Dame Eileen Atkins) is beginning to doubt the wisdom of going into business with Bert Large (Ian McNeice) and his son Al (Joe Absolom). There’s a shortage of customers for Bert’s home distilled whisky, and Al fears that his bed and breakfast may have to close its doors for good.
Elsewhere, there are wedding bells for PC Joe Penhale (John Marquez) who has proposed to the Doc’s nanny Janice Bone (Robyn Addison); and there’s also romance for the doctor’s receptionist Morwenna Newcross (Jessica Ransom) who is now in a relationship with Al, but she faces devastating news when her parents unexpectedly turn up.
