Eva O’Connor’s Overshadowed Heads To BBC Three

Filming has begun on new short form BBC Three drama Overshadowed, written by Eva O’Connor & Hildegard Ryan, which follows young Irish vlogger Imogene (Michelle Fox) as her life spirals out of control.

Overshadowed tells Imogene’s story through a series of vlogs. All eight of the ten-minute episodes are told from Imo’s point of view, giving a unique documentary style insight in to teenage life and her increasingly fragile mental state.

Imo used to be sparkly, vivacious and outgoing. Recently however she’s becoming withdrawn, gaunt and obsessed with exercise. The reason? Her new best friend won’t rest until Imo has been reduced both physically and emotionally to a shadow of her former self.

Eva O’Connor and Hildegard Ryan said: “We hope Overshadowed will be a fresh and innovative take on eating disorders and the way they can take over young people’s lives. We feel the YouTube style episodes are the perfect way to chart Imogene’s journey and capture the minds of young audiences.”

Overshadowed is based on Eva O’Connor’s award winning play which premiered at the 2015 Dublin Fringe festival and won the Fishamble New Writing Award. The series is produced by Kay Mellor’s Rollem Productions.
