Filming Begins On Channel 4 Thriller Born To Kill

Filming has begun on Born to Kill, Channel 4’s new four-part psychological thriller, written by Tracey Malone (Rillington Place) and Kate Ashfield, which explores the mind of a teenage boy trying to suppress psychopathic desires whilst falling in love for the first time.

Sam (Jack Rowan) is a teenager on the verge of acting out on hidden psychopathic desires. He lives with his protective mum Jenny (Romola Garai), a geriatric nurse, and believes that his dad died in a car crash.

While working at the local hospital Jenny meets Bill (Daniel Mays). New to town with his teenage daughter Chrissy (Lara Peake), Bill is trying to reconnect with his elderly mother Margaret (Elizabeth Counsell).

But just as Jenny and Bill start to hit it off, their kids meet at school and are also attracted to each other. Sam feels like he’s finally met someone that he can relate to, but does she really share his desire to kill?

Meanwhile, Jenny learns that Sam’s dad, Peter (Richard Coyle), is nearing his parole date. She must tell her son that not only is his father still alive, but also that he’s a convicted murderer.

Head of International Drama for Channel 4, Simon Maxwell, said: “Born to Kill expertly combines the psychological thriller and coming-of-age drama to take us into the terrifying world of its young protagonist and offer us a unique insight into the genesis of one young man’s psychopathy.”

Born To Kill is currently filming in Cardiff and is due to air on Channel 4 in 2017.
