First Look Trailer For Jude Law As The Young Pope

Sky has unveiled the first official teaser for The Young Pope, starring Jude Law as Lenny Belardo, Pope Pius XIII.

Lenny Belardo, who becomes Pius XIII, is the first American Pope in history. Young and charming, his election might seem to be the result of a media strategy by the College of Cardinals. But appearances can be deceptive, especially when shrouded by the walls of the Vatican City.

Full of contradictions, Pius XIII is shrewd and naïve, old-fashioned and modern, doubtful and resolute, ironic, pedantic, and ruthless as he tries to navigate the long path of human loneliness to find a God for mankind, and for himself.

The cast also includes Diane Keaton as Sister Mary, Silvio Orlando as Cardinal Voiello, Scott Shepherd as Cardinal Dussolier, Cécile de France as Sofia, Javier Cámara as Cardinal Gutierrez, Ludivine Sagnier as Esther, Tony Bertorelli as Cardinal Caltanissetta, and James Cromwell as Cardinal Michael Spencer.

The Young Pope is directed by Academy Award winner Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty), in a co-production between Sky, HBO and Canal+. The series will air from October on Sky Atlantic in Italy, Germany, Ireland, Austria, and the UK, and on Canal+ in France.
