Jonathan Pryce Cast In Sally Wainwright Brontë Drama

Jonathan Pryce (Wolf Hall, Game Of Thrones) has been cast as Patrick, the father of the Brontë sisters’, in Sally Wainwright’s (Happy Valley, Last Tango In Halifax) new one-off drama To Walk Invisible for BBC One.

To Walk Invisible tells the story of the Brontë sisters and the obstacles they faced as they rose from obscurity to produce some of the greatest novels in the English language.

Jonathan Pryce said in a BBC press release: “I am such an admirer of Sally Wainwright that if she were filming the phone book I would want to be in it! Her film will be a characteristically honest look at the whole Brontë family. I am really looking forward to it.”

Joining Pryce will be Chloe Pirrie (An Inspector Calls, War & Peace) as Emily Brontë, Charlotte will be played by Finn Atkins (Vera, Common), Charlie Murphy takes on the role of Anne (The Last Kingdom, Happy Valley), and their brother Branwell will be played by Adam Nagaitis (Banished, Happy Valley).

Writer and director Sally Wainwright said: “This is such an exciting and ambitious project, and we have already had a huge amount of interest in it. Something about the lives of these three brilliant, talented Yorkshire women seems to touch people at a very deep level.”

Filming will take place in and around Yorkshire from the beginning of May.
