Juno Temple & Janelle Monae Cast In Electric Dreams

Channel 4 has announced that Juno Temple (Vinyl) and Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures) will star in an episode of Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams entitled Autofac.

The series will feature ten episodes inspired by Philip K. Dick’s renowned short stories, adapted and contemporised for global audiences by leading British and American writers. Each episode will be a standalone drama that will serve to illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision whilst celebrating the enduring appeal of his work.

In Autofac, written by Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim) and directed by Peter Horton (Grey’s Anatomy), society and the world as we know it has collapsed, but an automatic factory continues to operate based on the principles of consumerism.

Humans consume products to be happy, and in order to consume continuously, so they must be denied freedom of choice and free will. But when a small band of rebels decide to shut down the factory, they discover they may actually be the perfect consumers after all.

Juno Temple plays one of the rebels, Emily, with Janelle Monae as Autofac representative Alexis. Jay Paulson (Mad Men) and David Lyons (Revolution) are also confirmed to appear.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams will air later this year on Channel 4 in the UK, and on Amazon in the US.
