Sci-Fi Thriller Humans Confirmed For A Third Series

Channel 4 and AMC have confirmed that Humans, based on Swedish sci-fi drama Real Humans, has been commissioned for an eight-part third series. Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley return as series writers.

Humans is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a Synth – a highly-developed robotic servant. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth only to discover that sharing life with a machine has far-reaching and chilling consequences.

In series two, Niska (Emily Berrington) was still at large and in possession of the consciousness code. Her synth family, Mia (Gemma Chan), Leo (Colin Morgan) and Max (Ivanno Jeremiah), unaware of her location, were trying to find their place in the world while Joe (Tom Goodman-Hill) and Laura (Katherine Parkinson) attempted to fix their marriage.

As unconfirmed reports of synths behaving inexplicably surfaced, the ripple effects of one simple decision saw the past return to the door of the Hawkins house. The family was presented with a difficult choice that put them under an intense spotlight as the series asked: who has the right to determine what it means to be alive?

Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley said: “We’re thrilled to be continuing this story! The Humans audience will know that the end of series 2 changed everything. We can’t wait to bring this new world to life – along with the best cast in TV.”

Humans series three begins filming in Autumn 2017 with key cast members set to return.
